Glenn (Illinois) 14th Dec 2011 02:43I don't know. I agree and disagree with the above criticism of this game. It is somewhat "herky-jerky" in the movement and control area but no more than some others of this time frame. Stealth Fighter and Airborn Ranger come to mind.
I found it very addicting. After many hours of playing I finally found the freaking command fort (well hidden behind some mountains) and also found that it is only visible if it is approached from a set path (between 2 flat top ridges, if I recall).
I am not a programmer but I suspect that the limits on graphics, sound and control may be due to the space taken up by the terrain and AI control of the enemies. There are quite a few enemy things running around independently not to mention the terrain that I believe DOES change slightly during play.
I found my best results by running as fast as possible, hit-n-running and using the dig in with remote controlling guided missiles as much as possible. Making sure to save 2 for the command fort. I would make tracks for the communications center, knock it out 1st and that gave me a much easier time making my way to the command center.
All in all, I enjoyed it and I am now in the process of getting a free version to run on an emulator.
I have an XT / AT version but haven't got my old 286 up and running yet. I wish I could find a real C64 version.
