"Yum, deranged Lemming stew =)"

Lemmings has been on practically every console and computer known to man. So, is the Gamegear version any good?

Gameplay:9/10
The game we all know and love is on the ickle Gamegear. I'll explain this as best as I can. Get ready for Sprite logic..

You control a white cross that is your cursor. That's it! Lemmings fall from the ceiling into the level. With a range of abilities that you assign to Lemmings, you lead them out of the levels. These abilities include Blocker, Basher, Bomber, Builder, Climber, Floater (Yep), and some others that I can't remember. You have a time limit in which you must get all the Lemmings to the exit. It's simple, fun, frustrating, pleasing, all in one. You'll be scratching your head wondering how to get the deranged mammals out of the stage.

The sheer amount of quality stages will astound and amaze you. Each stage has a different way to complete it. For example, the first stage has you telling each Lemming to dig down, until they fall through the ceiling. If they don’t dig, they will fall down the existing holes, hit the floor, and explode. The levels are imaginative, and very hard! They are addictive as well, and they never get tedious. But they do get frustrating..

Graphics:7/10
The lemmings are blue blobs with green hair. These are not only animated nicely, but never blur too much or slow down. Everything is clear, and the uses of the symbols are easy to tell. The menus are obvious, except the text takes a bit decipher. The letters are hard to see and read.
The levels are detailed and all slide about smoothly. It is always easy to see where your lemmings are.
Sounds and music:9/10
Fantastic music, it's great! The can-can is featured on the first level, and it gets you into the gaming mood :). All the music in there will be recognized immediately, it is all popular and well known.
There are actually very few sounds. There are a few voice samples, and the standard clicks. But this game doesn't really need sounds, because the music is great.

Challenge and difficulty:9/10
There is a great learning curve, and the later levels are really taxing. There will be some you just can't do!
This game won't last forever, no games does. But its a great puzzler for when you are on the move.

Overall:8/10
An all time classic, nearing perfection on the Gamegear. This is up there with Worms. I would love to see it on the Dreamcast or the likes. Pick it up :)
