Game Zero (Unknown) 27th Mar 2012 03:40Flip Out -- Gorilla Systems Corporation
You have entered into the tile flipping festival competition, run by the people of the Cheese Planet. Eventually you must challenge King Fluffy for the title of master tile flipper in this 3-D puzzle title. Match the colored tiles to their underlying blocks to win; on higher levels, match everything from bouncing colored aliens to the president's profiles on Mount Rushmore. Flip Out is available now on the Atari Jaguar.
R.I.P.
This game could have been better with more levels and more of a progression of difficulty. As it was, both Salamander and I blazed through this title in about three hours each... Salamander actually solved it faster than me, but puzzle games tend to go that way between us. Graphics were very cute, and what there was of the game was quite fun. Playcontrol left something to be desired -- I'm still not sure exactly of the logic behind cursor movement on some of the levels. Personally if you're desperate for a puzzler on the Jag, skip this title and go with something like Vid Grid.
Salamander
This is an intriguing puzzle game. I like the concept, but I found it much too easy. The challenge doesn't really increase until you hit the 3-D levels, which are nearly at the end. However, Flip Out is a lot of fun and a good afternoon's play. Graphics are crisp, control is smooth, and the sound is not bad either. If you like puzzles, and are looking for something unique, this one is worth sampling.
