(Anonymous) (Unknown) 7th Nov 2012 02:51Asterix and the Great Rescue is a Genesis title based on the French comic book character, Asterix the Gaul. Although many Asterix games were made prior to this one, they were more popular in Europe and rarely were released in North America, unlike this one.
This game is a side scrolling platformer in which Asterix and Obelix must rescue Getafix and Dogmatix from the Romans, who are in the process of taking over Gaul.
The player controls both characters, who move together but have different abilities, making it necessary to switch characters in order to pass certain obstacles in the stages. Asterix can crawl and run quickly while Obelix can move heavy objects.
The game features 6 levels with a total of 47 areas. The levels include Gaulish Village, Roman Fort, the Forest, Germany, Roman Galleon and Rome. Each level contains a boss fight.
